Baby's Easy Safe Sleep Training (BESST)

Animated Crescent Moon

PROJECT GOAL

We are looking for BESST Trainers. Could you be one? We would like to extend to you a special invitation to attend an exciting free training opportunity being offered by the North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation! This training is designed to promote infant safe sleep practices among families at highest risk for SIDS. The training does not meet the ITS-SIDS training rule in the NC childcare requirements for licensed child care facilities and homes.

TRAINING ACTIVITIES

Baby's Easy Safe Sleep Training (BESST), is a free "Train the Trainer" workshop to increase SIDS risk reduction awareness and promote safe sleep practices among those at highest risk, specifically African Americans and Native Americans throughout North Carolina. You will receive an educational tool (flipchart), a baby doll, a sleep sack, a thermometer and a tote bag to assist in your trainings.

Remember, it's all free!

The training is open to anyone! Local health educators, community educators, SIDS counselors, parents and anyone working with parents or grandparents are especially encouraged to participate. Please spread the word! We need your help in recruiting participants to attend the trainings. They will be located regionally across the state; however, you are welcome to attend which training is most convenient. A limited number of travel stipends are available.

Spanish flip charts are now available.
