Overview
Started in 1990, the NC Family Health Resource Line is a
collaborative effort of public and private agencies funded
by the N.C. Division of Public Health - Women's and Children's
Health Section and the N.C. Division of Medical Assistance.
Trained, bilingual, health communication specialists respond
to more than 40,000 calls a year and help callers find information
and services in their local community. For professionals
and agency staff, the NC Family Health Resource Line is a
place to call for information or to refer the families you
see.
The NC Family Health Resource Line is for anyone in North
Carolina who has questions about having a healthy pregnancy
or raising happy, healthy children and teens. It also serves
as a source of information about Health Check/NC Health Choice
- two publicly funded child health insurance programs. Friendly,
knowledgeable staff can help answer questions and resolve
problems. All services are free, confidential and available
in English and Spanish. Free educational materials for callers
are also available upon request.
